Arson, Not Global Warming

Fire raging in southern California have forced, to this point, 365,000 people to evacuate their homes. While the 250,000 acres that have been burned are truly a tragedy, it hasn't stopped some lawmakers from making knee-jerk global warming accusations. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tried to point the finger at global warming and then later backed down on his comments.

However, the AP reports that police are making arrests in an arson investigation directly linked to the fires. A $70,000 reward is currently being offered for information in the case.

By the way, efforts to thin forests and clean up underbrush in order to help prevent fires like this have been held up for years by environmentalists. Isn't it a bit ironic that their desire to save a few trees and retain a pure natural habitat has actually created more fuel for this fire to spread quickly and destroy 250,000 acres?
